Respiration Information

Six – galloping neck and neck, heads extended, nostrils flared as they race across the plains. Lungs pulling in air to supply the muscles with vital oxygen. This is what we all love to see, the epitomy of equine health and fitness. It may be a wild mustang racing along a rutted mountain track or a highly bred Thoroughbred Sports Horse galloping over the turf at the Kentucky Horse Park. Whatever the activity, for a horse to perform at its best it must have an efficient and healthy respiratory system, uncompromised by infection, irritation, inflammation or residual mucus. Air quality continues to deteriorate worldwide, leading to an increase in respiratory disorders in the human population. Our horses are no different, they breathe the same air as us and are proving to be just as susceptible to seasonal allergens as we are. Winter time brings its own set of problems, with reduced access to grazing and more hours spent in barns and stalls, often with restricted airflow which can contribute to poor respiratory health. To help you support your horses respiratory system and ensure it stays in optimum condition, we have produced a range of dried and liquid herbal formulations, rich syrups, essential oil sprays and homeopathic products, to help your horse maintain a healthy respiratory system whatever the season. I really wish I could speak to the inventor(s) directly, but the Freeway Gold is worth writing about! I cannot tell you about the products, medicines, trips to the vet and inhalers and on and on ... that I have tried on my 18 year old Dutch Warmblood Fox. He is my first "real" dressage horse, an FEI schoolmaster, and don't let the age fool you (I don't tell him) he has the energy of an 8 year old with attitude. Anyway, when I moved him to Connecticut from South Carolina, USA, I discovered some new allergies which affected his breathing. It would be especially bad during the changes of season and to the point that we could not do any work. Through much experimenting and discussion with several vets I found ways of keeping him comfortable BUT your product has done more than that! In the thick of Fall he is himself, easily performing to his level, just this morning we worked the halfpass, changes and piouettes. You can not imagine the pleasure it gives me to find something that helps him so much AND that he enjoys eating!!! Your products are wonderful! Thank you very much

Contains tinctures of Liquorice, Marshmallow, Ginkgo, Cleavers, Coltsfoot, Plantain & Garlic, blended with Cider Vinegar and Honey.

What is the difference between the dry and liquid products?
The main difference between the dry herbs and the herbal tinctures is the speed of initial absorption by your horse or pony's system. Just occasionally you will get a horse or pony who responds better to the dry herbs than the tinctures, or vice-versa. There is no logic behind this, just a reminder that horses and ponies are individuals - like us!

1.  Its not unusual for your horse or pony to have a bit of a 'snotty nose' after a week or so of being on Freeway Gold, this is just an indication that the herbs are doing their job.

2.  Liquorice has been used for both humans and animals for over 3,000 years, and was mentioned in ancient Greek herbal in the third century BC. Its main active constituent glycyrrhizin is responsible for the sweet taste and is over fifty times sweeter than sugar! Up until the 1940's liquorice was cultivated extensively in the north of England, this accounts for the famous Pontefract Cakes, a soft coin shaped liquorice sweet that was named after the Yorkshire town where they were made.
